The End of SAM

Time flies so fast …. Seems like yesterday when i was just on my way to Taylor’s from Cameron …

I was really nervous about coming to college cuz i’ve never been outside the comfort of my family and home in my life.

But college life has definitely been a blast! Meeting new people, learning and experiencing new things…

Who knows when we’ll be able to meet again :(

 

The beginning of the year is a blur to me now, but won’t forget the good times we had :)

I dunno how many times i’ve said this but : G1 ROX!

 

Now that the end of the year has come i guess it’s confession/fess-up time! xD

I am gonna be 101% honest in this post so i’m sorry if unknowingly hurt anybody’s feelings :]

there are many people who are memorable this year but i can only type so much in one post x.x

Mrs. Banu : extremely sarcastic but can be funny at the same time. very very patient with us :)

Ms. Param : damn … even more fussy than my grandmother but has HUGE knowledge in bio!

Ms. Soh : sweet, sweet and nice teacher ^^

Mr. Yap : super, super funny!!! eh, who’s gonna make the iwhackyou.blogspot.com? @.@

Bantus Capoeira Group: Taylor’s 2009

On some Mondays and Tuesdays a few of my friends would catch me doing odd things in the school parking lott with some friends.

It’s hard for me to explain what Capoeira is exactly, it looks like dancing but it’s actually Brazillian martial arts :p Wiki it for more info ><

Our capo family: Ben (Bendez), Phillips, Chua, Nigel, Andrea, Yu An, Me, Shinji (tartaruga), Mior, Ku, Zee and many others :)

NOT FORGETTING OUR INSTRUCTOR TERRY!!

thank you for the year of torture, bruises, pain, sores, sweat, (only once) blood and most importantly, teachings and fun :X

 

 

 

this is probably the only martial arts where you actually "play" in a roda instead of sparring. plus you need to clap, sing (in Brazillian Portuguese!) and play instruments to build up axê (which basically means energy) before playing. only 2 people can enter the roda (with the exception of solos) and play. you’ll earn your cordão (cord) which is like the belts in Tae Kwon Do in a ceremony called Batizado.

 

 

 

hopefully i can earn mine on the 8th of November :D

 

there are other elements to capoeira such as Maculelê (looks weird at first but it’s damn fun. we actually did a performance once)

 

            

 

and Samba de roda (never got to learn it T.T terry doesn’t teach it! D:)

 

           

Today was our last lesson and roda. best one yet though there were people who couldn’t make it :(

Until the day we can get together for another roda, boa sorte, meus amigos! :]

HOLY CRAP!

Taylor’s maintenance guy dropped in just now to change the light bulb, so i asked him to check my extension plug because sometimes when i use it i hear a sizzing sound and sometimes burning rubber.

 

The uncle pointed out the plug and i was like: OH MY GOD! x_____x 

 

 

 

 

imagine if i burst into flames ….. my electone would have been toast! and so would I lol ><"

Big Mama

 

Big Mama (빅마마) is a South Korean female singing group.

 

Known for their powerful voices, they are named such because they are all either overweight, by Korean celebrity standards, or considered to be not pretty. However, they have attracted a lot of attention (and album sales) because of their vocal talent and of their refusal to conform to the typical Korean female body type.

They highlighted this in their first music video (for Break Away, their first single), where four thin, pretty Korean women are shown performing on a stage but are then revealed to be lipsynchers; the actual members are behind the stage singing passionately.

This strong single catapulted the group into the top of the music charts, with their album selling over 100,000 copies.

Thx Wikipedia for the info ^^ anyway, Break Away is one of my favourite Korean songs of all time. And it’s true that it’s hard being an Asian with curves, especially if you’re a star even in other countries x.x but i say who cares! their vocals pack a punch in this image concious entertainment industry! i mean, these women can REALLY sing! unlike some other pretty-boy/girl lipsynchers who only have the looks but can’t sing for nuts -.-

i hope people enjoy this song as much as i do :]

 

and guess what? they CAN sing LIVE and sound even more amazing!
